Marleen Bazzano, a positive-minded 54-year-old, saw a sign with the word "acupuncture" in her primary care doctor’s window, and an arrow pointing to an office up the row. Marleen had thought about acupuncture in the past and decided she would find more out about it. So, up she came to ARC Physical Therapy and Pain Center to get more information. She left with a brochure and an appointment to meet with the acupuncturist. After consulting with the acupuncturist, Marleen said, “For the first time in a long time, I felt like I had hope.” Marleen had been suffering with rheumatoid arthritis since 1990. “I had pain in every joint in my body, I had no energy, couldn’t perform any household chores and felt like I had no life anymore,” she said.
She once experienced pain in every joint in her body ... now she is pain-free!
Before coming to ARC Physical Therapy and Pain Center, Marleen had back surgery, a four-disc fusion, both knees replaced, cortisone shots, pain medications along with predinisone, methotrexate and humira for treatment for her rheumatoid arthritis. All of these treatments only gave her partial or temporary relief.
Upon receiving treatment at ARC, Marleen had manual therapy, physical therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping. “After only the third visit, I was feeling a difference.” After a month and a half of treatment, Marleen was able to resume her daily activities, including housekeeping, cooking and shopping. “I am just thrilled to be spending more time with family and friends now that I can do things again, I am also thrilled to be able to walk my dog. I really appreciated how the therapists at ARC took their time to explain everything and gave me such hope.”
Marleen now has days where she is completely pain free and is happy to spread the word about her success story with ARC. She has referred two friends to ARC Physical Therapy and Pain Center who are now receiving treatment.
Nancy Wright was sitting in her rheumatologist's waiting room listening to other arthritis sufferers talk about the success they were having with their therapy at ARC Physical Therapy and Pain Center. She was inspired to start a conversation with her doctor about her own pain management options. After treating her rheumatoid arthritis with low-level medications, Nancy and her doctor decided to incorporate therapy at ARC.
Nancy had pain in her lower back that was restricting her stamina for such activities as gardening, housecleaning, walking, biking and kayaking. She received multiple types of treatment that included physical therapy, acupuncture, micro-current acupuncture, cupping, ultrasound and massage. Nancy was very impressed with the staff at ARC Physical Therapy and Pain Center, noting that they were very informative and showed a high level of expertise. She was happy that the staff was willing to try a variety of treatments until they were satisfied they found the most effective for her condition and recovery.
When Nancy began her therapy, her pain was at a level 7 out of 10. She is now down to a 1 out of 10. Nancy has learned a great deal about her body and more ergonomic ways to move since starting therapy. Her stamina has increased, and she is very excited to resume some of the more fun activities she had been avoiding. Nancy is hoping that her husband will also come to ARC Physical Therapy and Pain Center for treatment.
